 THE 2012 KORBEL BROOMBALL TOURNAMENT
THE KORBEL TOURNAMENT HAS CHANGED ITS' DATE SO AS TO NOT INTERFERE WITH USA BROOMBALL'S BUDWEISER TOURNAMENT.
FEBRUARY 18-19. 2012
The Irving Rink facility was just great last year and we will do it again there in 2012..  The care and maintainence of the ice was first rate and professional.  The location turned out to be central with plenty of bars and restaurants within a mile.
THE FEE FOR 2012 IS $150.00 PLUS ONE NEW STITCHED OUTDOOR BROOMBALL
If there is to be a Women's Division we need a minimum of 4 teams.  The same holds true for a Co-Rec Division.

For this event here is some info:
  • using large nets
  • floating blueline
  • no checking
  • orange stitched ball
  • no ties for pool play
Each Pool will be seeded as follows:
  • the winners of each pool will be seeded either top half of draw or bottom half.       #1 seed will be determined by record against the the second and third place teams in their pool and those records will go head-to-head to determine the #1 seed.
  • the runners-up of each pool will be seeded either 3 or 4 based on which pool they were in.  They will play in the opposite bracket of the top seed from their pool.
  • the 3rd place teams will be seeded either 5 or 6.  They will play in the opposite bracket of the top seed from their pool.
  • the 4th place team in the pool will be seeded 7.

FORMAT FOR MEN'S TOURNAMENT PLAY
EACH TEAM WILL BE PUT INTO A POOL OF THREE TEAMS
ALL THREE TEAMS WILL PLAY EACH OTHER AND THERE WILL BE 2 POOLS IN EACH DIVISION
THEN TEAMS ARE GIVEN SEEDS BASED ON THEIR POOL PLAY IN THEIR  DIVISION
THE WINNERS OF EACH DIVISION WILL PLAY FOR THE KORBEL CHAMPIONSHIP

EACH CO-REC TEAM WILL BE PUT INTO A POOL OF THREE TEAMS
ALL THREE TEAMS WILL PLAY EACH OTHER AND THERE WILL BE 2 POOLS
THEN TEAMS ARE GIVEN SEEDS BASED ON THEIR POOL PLAY TO PLAY FOR THE CO-REC CHAMPIONSHIP




Rules: Standard USA Broomball rules apply with 2 refs per game

Standing placement determination rules for your pool and seeding:

  • total number of games won
  • total number of games won plus total goals for
  • total number of games won plus total goals for minus goals against
  • Still tied then high card drawn - best 3 out of 5
Pool Play:
  • Each game is 2 - 25 minute periods with 5 minute warm - up
  • Two minute half times
  • 1 time out per game
  • No ties for pool play - if tied then 3 on 3 with goalies for 5 minutes running time.  If still tied then a sudden death shoot out
  • Mercy rule is 6 goal lead at half time
Eligibility:
  • A player can only be registered to play on one men's team
  • All players must play in Saturday games in order to participate in the Sunday games
